The Rotary Club of Maraval held its last meeting of the Rotary year 2020/21 on June 27, 2021. Although the meeting was held virtually as a result of the prevailing global pandemic, the atmosphere was one of high expectations.  Several awards were given with Ms. Nicole Freakley copping Rotarian of the Year, Club Charter member Ms. Mary Charles and long standing Treasurer Mrs. Charmaine Baptiste received Rotary International Club Service Awards for their dedication to the Service Projects and Finance Committees respectively and the designation of Honorary member was bestowed onto Charter member and Past President Helen Ache.

IPP Giselle was praised for her very successful year as President where under her leadership in 2020/21, the Club received several District awards at the District Annual Awards Ceremony held on Thursday 24th June, 2021 namely Zone 34 Public Image Award and the District 7030 Governor’s 4-star Citation. Then with over 30 members and friends in attendance the presidency of the club transitioned from Ms. Giselle Holder to Dr. Adele Springer at this fun filled event.

This is President Adele’s third stint in office and she fondly refers to this as a “threepeat.”   She previously served as President for two consecutive years 2014-2016. A Rotarian for the last ten (10) years President Adele is known to be an action person and says. “I love to see the power and spirit of Rotary embodied in our eager, enthusiastic and actively engaged members.”

The fellowship at the end of the handover event was most enjoyable where members toasted with wine and participated in a raffle competition. The transition was smooth and members look forward to another successful and action-packed year led by new President Adele.

President Adele’s Board consists of a blend of experienced and new Rotarians which augurs well for the Club. All people of action.

Meet the new Board for 2021/22.
