On Tuesday 30th July, 2019, the Rotary Club of Maraval hosted its first joint fellowship meeting which featured guest speaker Ms. Sonji Pierre-Chase who shared salient information on the newly enacted Non Profit Organization Act 2019 and its impact to Rotary Clubs. This meeting was held at the House of Chan and saw the involvement of four other Rotary Clubs

The Rotary Club of Maraval welcomed Rotarians from the Rotary Clubs of Central POS, Princes Town, San Fernando and San Fernando South who came out in their numbers to learn more about the Non-Profit Organization Act 2019.

Hosted at the House of Chan, Warner Street, this meeting was the first fellowship meeting chaired by the Rotary Club of Maraval for the Rotary year and highlighted the importance of fellowship with a purpose as all were enlightened by the information shared with us by our guest speaker, Attorney-At-Law, Sonji Pierre Chase. Her presentation clearly advised all of the immediate and medium term action that needs to be taken as Rotary Clubs to ensure conformance to this Act.

Though the penalties associated with the non-conformance of the NPO Act 2019 were a bit sobering to all present, it did not damper the mood for long as Rotarians took the opportunity to engage our guest speaker after her presentation in much Q&A. A raffle was also drawn where two luck winners enjoyed two alcoholic gifts. Some more fellowship soon followed as we all enjoyed the great ambiance created by the décor of the House of Chan and the overall positive vibes shared by all.
